The Jussie Smollett [[ smuh-let ]] case is in the hands of the jury as they begin their deliberations. The former "Empire" actor, who is Black, is charged with staging a racist and homophobic attack in Chicago in 2019. Prosecutors say he staged the attack for publicity. He faces up to three years in prison if convicted.        Instagram's CEO is defending the idea that social media can have a positive impact on the live of young people. CEO Adam Mosseri testified in a Senate hearing and said social media companies want kids to remain safe online. Senators argued self-policing by social media giants isn't working.        A fourth COVID vaccine dose may be needed sooner than expected to fight the Omicron [[ ahm-ih-cron ]] variant. Pfizer's CEO originally expected a fourth dose would be needed after 12 months, but he's now saying it might be sooner than that. Preliminary research is showing Omicron can undermine protective antibodies created by the vaccine.        Things were slower on Wall Street today. Stocks finished higher, but not at the level seen on Monday and Tuesday. The more mellow pace today was set by an announcement from Pfizer which said a third dose of its coronavirus vaccine provides good protection against the Omicron [[ ahm-ih-cron ]] variant.        [[ note nature ]]       An Arkansas jury is deliberating in the child porn trial of "19 Kids and Counting" alum Josh Duggar. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each of the two counts if convicted. Duggar was charged in April after child porn was allegedly discovered on a computer at his workplace.       More minorities are appearing on-screen since the pandemic started. Research conducted by Variety Business Intelligence found Black and nonbinary representation increased significantly in film and television over the past two years. The study found other representation gains, but they seemed to be unevenly spread.
