Michael Monteiro (age 52)

On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Michael Monteiro with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling, three counts of conspiracy, assault with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of simple assault, one count of carrying a pistol without a license, one count of discharging a firearm when committing a crime of violence, and one count of breaking and entering. The alleged acts occurred in the town of North Providence sometime on or about June 17, 2021. The North Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 8, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

 

Jared Batista (age 24)

On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jared Batista with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling, three counts of conspiracy, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, and one count of breaking and entering. The alleged acts occurred in the town of North Providence sometime on or about June 17, 2021. The North Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Leah Bucci with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling, three counts of conspiracy, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of larceny from a person, one count of simple assault, and one count of breaking and entering. The alleged acts occurred in the town of North Providence sometime on or about June 17, 2021. The North Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 8, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Jian Ming Huang with one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, two counts of conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act, one count of possession of marijuana in excess of five kilograms, and one count of maintaining a common nuisance. The alleged acts occurred in the town of North Providence sometime on or about June 10, 2021. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 20, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Da X Liang with one count of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, two counts of conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act, one count of possession of marijuana in excess of five kilograms, and one count of maintaining a common nuisance. The alleged acts occurred in the town of North Providence sometime on or about June 10, 2021. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 20, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

 

Mark Salerno (age 39)

Scituate, R.I.

On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Mark Salerno with seven counts of first-degree child molestation, three counts of second-degree child molestation, and one count of indecent solicitation of a child. The alleged acts occurred in the town of North Scituate on various days and dates between January 1, 2021 and April 27, 2021. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 20, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

 

Marc Gregoire (age 48)

Johnston, R.I.

On October 1, 2021, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Marc Gregoire with one count of first-degree arson and one count of resisting arrest. The alleged acts occurred in the town of Scituate sometime on or about April 29, 2021. The Scituate Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on October 20, 2021 in Providence Superior Court.

 

 

The Democratic-controlled Senate is quickly dismissing the impeachment charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The Senate voted to rule both impeachment articles unconstitutional because they did not rise to the level of "high crimes and misdemeanors." Senate Republicans raised several motions to try and kick off a lengthy trial but they all failed along party lines.        Arizona's near-total abortion ban is still law. The Civil War-era law outlaws the procedure except to save the life of the woman and threatens providers with prison sentences between two and five years. The state's House did not repeal law on Wednesday following Democratic lawmakers attempt to do so.        House Speaker Mike Johnson is unveiling his plan to provide military assistance to critical U.S. allies. Johnson released four bills to provide aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan today. The speaker plans to vote on the legislation Saturday evening.        Whistleblowers are accusing airplane manufacturer Boeing of covering up major safety and quality failures. Boeing quality engineer Sam Salehpour testified during a Senate hearing today, and warned Boeing's 787 Dreamliner is unsafe to fly due to assembly flaws. He told lawmakers he raised the issue with leadership for more than three years and was ignored.        Performers at California's Disneyland park are filing a petition to unionize. On Wednesday, Disney performers announced they're ready to hold a vote on union representation. That vote will likely happen in May or June.        Martin Scorsese is eyeing his next several projects. The Oscar-winning director is in talks to shoot Frank Sinatra and Jesus biopics. Variety reports the film on Sinatra would see Leonardo DiCaprio, who starred in Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon," play the singer with Jennifer Lawrence portraying his second wife.
